Shaping the World In-Client

From the very beginning of the game, players are tasked with rebuilding the world from the ground up. This happens in-client with features like reconstructing the stargate network of the galaxy, building out supporting infrastructure, developing and customizing new ships, creating new social structures and more - all decisions matter and impact the canvas of the game. Over time, the entire canvas of the game will be colored entirely by the player actions & decisions.

Expanding the Frontier via Third-Party Development

While the world of EVE Frontier features deep avenues of creation in-client, we hope to expand the aperture of player agency even further to be unconstrained by the initial conditions, systems and features that we’ve set forth.

To that end, our dream for EVE Frontier is a world that can be flexibly expanded and customized through third-party development, unlocking boundless creativity. This ethos has been built into the core experience from the outset - evidenced by the commitment to open-sourcing the code that is needed to make and operate EVE Frontier. By doing so, we catalyze development effort from anyone wanting to contribute to the EVE Frontier ecosystem.

To support this, we are introducing Smart Assemblies, a construct that integrates full server-side modification capabilities through blockchain-enabled smart contracts. Players will be able to bring their smart contracts to life with custom user interfaces, all rendered in HTML 5 and accessible within the game client. This ensures seamless interaction with the world, allowing for deeper customization and creativity while interacting with third-party applications created by other players.

In addition, advanced cryptographic technologies seamlessly pass data in a secure and verifiable manner between the client and the on-chain environments to bring Frontier towards full decentralization.

All this will be enabled through the EVE Frontier technology stack and underlying blockchain, which will serve as a gateway to enable players to manifest and showcase their creativity.
